Have you ever seen a magician and wished you could learn those magic tricks?At eleven years old, I went with my father to a business convention in New York City. At one of the booths, I saw a magician performing some of the most incredible magic I had ever seen.
It blew me away! I parked myself at his booth and watched him perform the same tricks over and over again. He fooled me every time. At one of his breaks he pulled me aside and said, ”My name is Frank Garcia. Are you a magician?” “No,” I replied, “But I want to learn to do what you did. It was great.” “When you get back home read every book you can find on magic. Also hook up with the local magicians.” Back home again in Indiana, I raced straight to the library. There were no books on magic. They had ALL been stolen! I asked every local magician to teach me how to do magic. No one would help me. After searching in vain for over a year, my grandfather had me meet an old Vaudeville magician that he knew. Leon, the magician, gave me two old classic books on coin and card magic. I was thrilled. I only got to see him a couple of more times before he passed away. His act of kindness and friendship started me on my lifelong love of magic. I vowed never to let this happen to anybody else with a genuine interest in learning how to do magic.
